Rural Computer Consultants (RCC) designs and develops software solutions specifically for fuel and propane industries. Headquartered in Bird Island, Minnesota, RCC employs over 70 people, some who also work remotely across the country. The family-run company was founded in 1979 by the Sheehan family. With a long history in the fuel industry that spans generations, Rural Computer Consultants prides itself on being “For fuel people, by fuel people.” Today, the second generation of Sheehans is leading the company. They have customers in every state across the country and they pride themselves on providing exceptional customer service and building long-term relationships with their customers.
Chocolate for VIPs
Every holiday season since 2017, Rural Computer Consultants has sent certain customers a special treat from Mr. B’s Chocolates. Holly Johnson, Human Resources Manager, and the second-generation leadership team at Rural Computer Consultants, told us about how they give Mr. B’s chocolates to their VIPs, “Every holiday season, we send a box of Mr. B’s Chocolates to new clients as well as those that spend over a certain dollar amount with us. We also order a few boxes for our preferred vendors, remote staff, and our Headquarters office to enjoy!”
High-Quality Customer Gifts
It is important to Rural Computer Consultants to give high-quality gifts, rather than items that are gimmicky or tossed away. Holly pointed out, “Mr. B’s Chocolates are a gift that is so unique and delicious that we want to share with people all over the country! It’s something we have loved locally for over ten years and feel it’s a special gift to give others. The ability to customize a chocolate bar with our logo is a fun touch as well.” When RCC places their corporate gifting order for chocolate with Mr. B’s, they know that everything is taken care of. Holly remarked, “We love how easy it is to order chocolate for hundreds of our customers and that shipping is handled by Mr. B’s. We are pleased and return each year because of it!”
Thanking Employees
Being the HR Manager at RCC, Holly knows how important it is to recognize and show appreciation to their employees, “Our staff especially enjoys the chocolates. They always reach out with a ‘thank you’ for the delicious treats during the holiday season!” RCC is known locally for being an awesome place to work. A few of the other ways that RCC shows appreciation for their staff is with Friday breakfasts, paid volunteer time for staff that want to give back to their community, tickets to sporting events, and annual ‘HallowThanksMas’ company parties!
Spreading the Holiday Spirit
Handmade chocolate isn’t the only way that RCC spreads holiday cheer. Every year since 2008, the company has also made a donation in honor of all their customers to a different non-profit organization. Each year, they choose an organization that is important to them. They also help promote their cause by featuring the non-profit on a special bookmark that is sent to all their customers. This year, they are donating to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. We love what the team at Rural Computer Consultants is doing to bring attention to important causes each year. The bookmark serves as a good reminder of suicide awareness and to not lose hope since “When the sun goes down, the stars come out.” Thank you RCC for spreading the holiday cheer in so many ways!
